I met my husband when I was 18 years old at U T Martin. I was smitten when I first saw him. I mean I really started falling for him when I began spending time with him. His conversation was thought provoking, his ideas were inspiring and his since of humor was contagious. It also did not hurt that he could play the saxophone so well that I would constantly want him to perform. He was an artist, his posters were very detailed. Then the one activity he did that sealed the deal – stepping. He was an awesome stepper with his fellow Omegas (Ques).

Is this year any different than previous years at tax time 2012? Are more people putting the money they receive back into their coffers or are we all out looking for the new "thing" we were waiting on purchasing? The times in your life that seem as though you are falling in to an endless abyss, what do you do? The instances of life bearing down on you very soul seemingly to destroy you, what do you do? People in your life that usually have the most soothing effect on your mental state now almost provoke the most bristling effect, what do you do?

How awkward. I am talking about the sense of being constantly preoccupied with an idea or concept. The times you cannot get to sleep because you cannot turn your brain off. All of the things that usually work to “ease your mind” just do not work anymore. Everything seems minute in nature when this idea pops up like a spring flower out of the brownness of the grass.

The Urgency of Now
This is a new year and still many of us are dealing with situations that developed in 2011. I am sure many of you feel as I do: an urgency of now.

Marriages go through many dips, hill and valleys. We must remember Why we married this individual. Oftentimes we reflect on the How and skip over the Why. The why is also part of the foundation of your relationship. This foundation includes the Lord leading you to this person even if you did not know He was doing the leading at that time. It is the reason you got married and have stayed married. The How of being married has its own treacherous path, but it is the Why that will allow you to remain long enough to work on the How.

As our nation steers its way toward a healthy recovery in the economy, many of us are finding ourselves in a similar position personally. The economy affects parts of our lives we previously had no idea about. Who knew Wall Street had such a direct effect on my purse strings and I don’t even have money in the stocks market? These people can sneeze incorrectly and the gas price can rise ten cents overnight. Jobs are lost because of the economy. Marriages are held together by Post It notes due to the economy.
